Made after you order

Here's the slightly unglamorous truth: nothing in the shop exists until you want it.

When you order, your shirt is still plain cotton on a shelf in Los Angeles, and the drawing is still a file. Your order is what introduces them. Then it gets printed or embroidered, checked, folded and sent. About seven days before it leaves (we know – patience is nobody's favourite word).

Why work like this? Mostly because the alternative makes us a little queasy. Print a hundred shirts in advance and some sell, some sit in a box, then in a sale, and then – well, you know where they end up.

This way, every shirt that exists already has someone waiting for it. Which is a nice thought, honestly.

And the drawings get to stay. No design has to prove itself in one season. If people still want it, it stays.

One practical thing: every product page shows the garment measured flat, and how it fits. Between sizes? The page tells you which way to go (so you don't have to guess).

So – worth the week?
